Post Some sites to download free rigs to practice your animation
Hello,

I've noticed some of you have enquired about free rigs in another thread , so I thought I should start a new thread on this and share those rigs I've found on the net and I've personally tried using. A while ago I was searching high and low for some good rigs too. In the end I've found the following 2 rigs which seem to be quite commonly used by animators. Here they are:

1) For 3dsmax

LowMax: http://www.3dluvr.com/clisk3d

I personally like this rig, as it's quite easy to control and it also have IK/FK switch capability. It also has a Maya version too, which can be found on the same site. This rig is not able to do Lip Syn though, but you can still do simple mouth movements like open and close as well as can rotate it's lower jaw, if you animate to dialouge.

2) For Maya

Generi: http://andrewsilke.com/generi_rig/generi_rig.html

This rig is more suitable for lip syn, as compared to the rig above as you have quite a bit of control over the shapes of the mouth. There're two version of this rig which are included in the download. One of them has a cool looking UI but I've been having problem using this cool looking UI, still can't figure out why they don't seem to work. But you can still use the other version without the cool looking UI though.

More free rigs for XSI at http://www.noelxtreme.com/

Please feel free to add on to the list.

(I love playing with this rig. Very nice FK/IK blending. I haven't yet 100% figured out the stretch/squash though.)
