Post Warcraft battle - WIP
Hi guys!

I'm working on a new animation with an orc and a night-elf fighting. I'm up to the first blocking pass, and would appreciate any comments that you guys might have!

Thanks, Andy!

Here's another pass: http://vimeo.com/25234476

Made quite a few adjustments, and hopefully I'm close to being done!

Not bad in general.

Some thoughts which I hope will help.

1) Weight issues.
When the character is striking and hitting the other characters. Pay attention to anticipation and follow through to emphasize weight and force. Its the timing. And the animation for the body. Not just arms.

2) The part where he jumps and steps on him as well. Making it look too easy especially when he kicked him away to move forward.

3) The poses and moves when he (Blue guy) attacked him can be improved.

Hope it helps.

Not bad, though it'll be better if it's shorter for comments.. These are just my opinions =)
In general:
1. The elf doesn't feel like he has enough strength to swing the big sword using 1 hand, if he's able to hold it using 1 hand, he's holding abit too high though. From the first strike of the orc, it feels like the orc is winning. The elf doesn't have enough feel to make the orc falls back 1 step.

2. The viewers eye will be directed to the orc instead of the elf casting the spell if that's your focus. The elf doesn't feel like he's casting spell too, it feels more like something just glow from his hand.

3. The blast feels strong and therefore the orc should react in back stepping instead of returning back to his original position. Perhaps the elf pose can be stronger too, otherwise it feel like something somehow happened, and they are getting ready to start fighting.

4. Perhaps a small cut whereby the elf is grinning and start running towards the orc can be inserted. The orc is still affected by the blast when the elf do the run in and kick to the back of the head.

5. Hold the pose of orc doing the roar in the down position longer, the way it settles back feels that he's weaker/relaxed abit. The pose can be further enhanced by showing more of the body, right now the head seems to cover too much body. Push the line of action stronger by giving more space between the legs and lowering the hands more. E.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/iposters/2653976054/
http://puppsfreestuff.com/files/HulkSeg ... r24fLG.gif

6. The hand pose of the elf doesn't feel like he's drawing out the dagger..

7. The pose of the elf drawing and holding the dagger probably can be improved. Normally hiding the face behind stuffs may not be recommended, but in this case, probably cross the daggers covering the mouth leaving only eyes exposed may be good as it adds some hidden danger behind. Just my opinion.

8. The legs of both characters at the fight seems to stuck on the floor for too long. The force of the fight seems to be a bit lacking.

9. The elf pose doesn't seems to be casting spell again..

10. Good job on the punch. It may be nicer if he holds his fist afew frames longer before punching. You can vary the rhytem by making the punch huge, settles back lesser before pushing the elf head to the pillar. Right now the pull back seems like the orc is going to give the elf another punch instead. When you cut to the next shot the head pushing force is smaller too.

11. There's a speed synronization error in the hand when you cut between the shots. 1 is easing in and the next 1 the hand pulls back fast, it'll register as a snap or some kind of error.

12. Becareful of weight and balance issue. When the orc is is standing on 1 leg before giving the elf the final kick, he should be leaning infront more. Right now he's quite off balance. Thus there is the impression whereby something is pulling his leg instead of the orc kicking. Enhance the pose by making the line of action of the kick stronger too.

Hope this helps. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with the animation, most of the stuffs i mentioned are just my opinions. Great job though, keep going ^_^
